About Me

I have largely two domains of interest : one, planning and control of autonomous vehicles and two, embedded control systems. I have also contributes by merging these two domains at various times and have been instrumental in developing two laboratories embedded control lab and Autonomous Robots and Multi-agent Systems (ARMS) lab.

The research in the embedded control area concentrates on analysing the effect of different limitations of embedded platforms, when the embedded platform is used as a controller. The laboratory experiments are designed to provide hands-on experience on different limitations and their effect on the performance of a control system.

My approach in solving autonomous robotic problems is more or less bottom-up, where I solve a problem considering the practical limitations of sensors, actuators and environment. Solutions are verified with simulations and actual implementations. The implementation mostly targets an embedded platform. My effort in this field is to establish expertise in real problems related to autonomous robotics. I have been guiding a team of about 25 students (from various departments) in designing and developing underwater vehicle (more information available at www.auv-iitb.org)for participation in international ROBOSUB competition. This activity has generated my interest in underwater robotics where sensing and communication are critical issues. Based on my research experience in these two domains, my interests have moved to exploring the are of Robotic applications in IoT and IoE framework where my interests are also in fault identification, fault-tolerant systems, AI/ML approaches, IoT device deployment and end-to-end solutions for IoT framework.
