Research
I'm working towards the following objectives
- Leverage COTS device in role of primary controller with minimum external hardware for autonomous navigation
- Algorithms for monocular vision based navigation and mapping
An android phone is an example of a ubiquitous COTS device. Together the hardware and software features of this platform present major potential for/as robotic controller. Various robot applications using Android phone in primary and auxiliary roles have surfaced in recent times. This work aims at exploring stand-alone application capability of android phones to robotic applications.
Advances in Computer Vision have enabled novel robotics applications based on monocular vision. The compute requirement of these algorithm is high which prevents potential real time applications on low power devices (such as Android Phone). We seek to craft efficient algorithms, novel methodologies to enable implementation of monocular vision based real-time navigation and exploration applications on low power devices.
